Can you be too PC?

Yes! Yes you can! You add fuel to the fire. Minorities don’t want speciall rights and privileges they just want the same amount the majority has. This applied to color, religion, sexual orientation. So please stop treating those groups like they are babies. You are only adding to the stereotype.

Affordable Care Act

I’m not going to post some rant like I usually do. I am going to tell you a story about my mom and then maybe people will understand why I support ACA.

My mom is 56 years old and is dying. I guess it was about 6 years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder, that attacks her intestines and kills it. Once diagnosed, BCBS notified her employer who laid her off. then BCBS dropped her. It came down to pay her bills or pay for health care. She still has my youngest brother at home so she chose to pay the bills. She isn’t eligible for any insurance, not with a rare auto immune disorder. That’s not something you cure, that something you fight to control. Even as a retired Navy vet she could get proper treatment. The VA doesn’t like to diagnose things like that, first of all it’s expensive second of all if it can be traced back to her service it’s a liability. After 6 years of little to no care, she turned 55 and was finally eligible for medicaid and supplement insurance, poor BCBS can’t drop Medicare recipients. Now of coarse it’s too late. She is doing well now, really well, after a month long stay in hospital 3 hours away they got several infections under control, which may have prolonged her life. It still doesn’t change the fact that I will always blame BCBS for my mother’s condition. She has two years left to live. She will never see my children grow up. She will never get to be a grandmother that gets to do things with her grandchild, there isn’t much you can do from a bed, constantly hooked to tubes.

This is just one reason of many reasons I know we NEED the Affordable Care Act. An insurance company shouldn’t be able to just call up your employer and say ” oh she’s gonna get really sick”, they shouldn’t be able to drop you when you need it. Now that’s a real death panel. So before you jump on the Fox news anti Obamacare wagon, just remember my story is just one of millions.

The Single Parent.

So this is bit outdated now, but it still seems to be coming up a lot, so up it goes. Apparently there are quite a few politicians out there who seems to think single parents decide to be single parents for the hell of it and should be charged with negligence.  I was raised by a single parent. My dad sacrificed a lot so I wouldn’t have to. I had nice clothes, a home, and everything else I could desire provided by my single father. I was never neglected. I may have cried neglect when I didn’t get what I wanted when I wanted, but Daddy spoiled me so I could get rather demanding at times.

Now, I’m going to tell you a story about someone very near and dear to me. A single mother whom I admire and love. She hasn’t always been a single mother. She married a man and was going to live happily ever after. But like most modern day happily ever afters it fell apart. Not long after she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, she got sick. She was in and out of hospitals, on and off meds, she was basically bed ridden with a brand new baby. Now if you are a parent you understand how difficult that is. Since she had taken vows less than year before this that said “In Sickness and in Health” one would think her husband would want to help her. HA!!! Yeah right, He stopped coming home, continued his drug use she was under the impression he had quit and resumed his alcoholic behavior. Left her mother to care for her and the baby. Finally they found a way to help her, she had a surgery that saved her life. Her husband of coarse kept on his neglectful lifestyle and began to become violent. Being the strong woman she is, she left, took the baby and herself and moved into her mom’s house. Now she’s a single mother, She works and goes to school. She has a house and car and her son has never gone hungry. she does this all on her own, because Mr. Winning doesn’t pay child support. She pays for his birthday parties, She makes sure he gets to play whatever sport he wants, she ,makes sure he goes to every game. She puts more energy and sacrifice into raising her son than any other mother I know. To call her neglectful, would be a slap

Newt the Adultering Hypocrite

Newt Gingrich is just bad for America. It’s not that he’s an adulterer. I mean come on this is America and how many Presidents are guilty of the same offense. In fact adultery makes him fit in. What pisses me off is that he’s a HYPOCRITE!!! While he was Speaker of the House he had President Clinton impeached for the same thing he was doing! He furthers his hypocrisy by opposing gay marriage because it de-sanctifies the institution of marriage. Um what?!?!? What exactly does he think his adultery is? I kinda feel bad for Callista, must suck to know at any given moment your husband will be overcome with patriotism and leave you for the newer and shinier toy.

Breaking News of the Day: In light of the massive backlash that ensued following Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood of breast-cancer screening grants, founder and CEO Nancy Brinker has just released a statement on behalf of herself and the charity’s Board of Directors in which she apologizes for Komen’s decision, reiterates that the decision was not politically motivated, and announces the immediate restoration of partnership between the two nonprofits.

“Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer,” Brinker says in the statement. “Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.”

Sadly, I don’t think it will matter. They have been bullying other non-profits and throwing their weight around for so long, that I think this debacle was the icing on the cake for many. Personally, I want to see Karen Handel fired. Even then, I don’t think I’ll have anything to do with them until the get humble.

Planned Parenthood, What do they do Anyways?

What do you think when hear “Planned Parenthood”? After the past year, most likely ABORTION. Oh no did I say it out loud? Well too bad, it’s here to stay. Despite legislation to make it illegal, that’s all it will be is illegal. Women will stop going to clinics and resort to the back alley and a coat hanger. I guess that’s what the religious right wants though, you decided to do it now you deserve to die from it. This post though isn’t about abortion, it’s about Planned Parenthood and what they do.

Contrary to popular belief only about 3% of services provided by Planned Parenthood are abortions. 35% is STD screening and treatment another 35% is dedicated to BIRTH CONTROL, You know that stuff that helps prevent unwanted pregnancies therefor also preventing abortions. 16% is Cancer (breast & cervical) screening and prevention. Planned Parenthood has actually made cervical cancer not as deadly as it once was.

When I got pregnant with my second child I had no insurance, and even though by pinching pennies I may have been able to afford it, Blue Cross Blue shield was not about to take on pregnant woman. I couldn’t afford to pay for prenatal care, I could barely afford to pay for insurance. Abortion was not an option for me. I’m pro choice, don’t get me wrong but I made my choice to have this baby. I turned to planned parenthood. It was never suggested that I abort. Instead I got the prenatal care I needed which is always a good thing especially when you have a breech baby. Actually the only thing “suggested” to me was that I look into WIC which would help provide food. I could buy food, I just couldn’t buy insurance. I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl and didn’t have to declare bankruptcy thanks to Planned Parenthood. I went for my yearly exam after the birth of my baby girl. I found out then that I had cervical displasia. Stage 3, which is basically as bad as it gets with out being cancer. Again insurance left me out to dry. Thankfully I have an OBGYN that is an angel. He not only removed the cancerous cells at a heavily discounted price but saved my life a week later for free from complications. Planned Parenthood covered my birth control until I was able to get my own insurance.

What upsets me is that what if I didn’t have the doctor I do? What if Planned Parenthood did get shut down? What will happen to women who don’t have access to things that I did? It’s death sentence. The GOP wants to say the Affordable Healthcare Act has death panels, but what is leaving a woman to die from cervical cancer because she can’t afford to prevent and treat it? This is America for Christ’s sake not some 3rd world country! Planned Parenthood helped me and I hope one day to return the favor, in the meantime I will fight for them. I understand how much they do and hopefully one day so will the rest of the country. Please stop getting caught up on one issues that receives no tax payer money and only accounts for 3% of what this organization actually does.

South Carolina’s going to be the best primary ever. Farce the hell out of that shit, gents!

Somehow, we have to make sure Colbert places third; I think that would wreck Romney and whoever came in second (probably Gingrich).

Montana Vs. Citizens United

Ok so someone tweeted the title I wanted to use and I’m not big on plagiarism so I’ll just share instead ” The bitch slap heard cross the country” Now as everyone knows I despise Clarence Thomas. I would run for office just to have him impeached and removed. He’s a disgrace. But what I despise more than Clarence Thomas is the land mark ruling by the Supreme Court most people call Citizens United. You can see more here at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_v._Federal_Election_Commission

Normally I frown upon Wikiapedia, I was never allowed to use it for research papers so I still have trouble respecting it a source but this seems accurate. And I’m sure most my readers are already familiar with the ruling and the SuperPac it gave birth to. Anyways how in the hell they justify corporations donating limitless amounts to political campaigns is just beyond me, but for this post that’s really neither here nor there.

Back to the bitch slap! Montana’s Supreme Court reached a land mark decision of their own when they overruled the Supreme Court’s decision. Now of coarse there will be appeals and since the US. Supreme Court has already decided chance of it holding up are slim to none. This ruling is huge! Especially because Citizens United is a conservative group and Montana is a conservative state. But this has obviously sparked a fire because now other states are starting to fire back and push the legal status of the ruling to make limitless corporate contributions a bit more difficult and by no means transparent. I for one am stoked. It gives me a new hope that campaign finance reform could become a reality and not just some unattainable dream.
